Smithfield Foods’ second quarter profits tumble by $38.7M

DAILY PRESS, Aug. 12, 2015: While Smithfield Foods is still bringing home the bacon, it’s not smoking the whole hog, according to its quarterly report released by the firm Wednesday.

The Smithfield-based pork producing powerhouse, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of China-based WH Group Limited, recorded $3.49 billion in sales during the second quarter of 2015, according to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
